The new Formia Tile line control version XL270 is the successor of the Formia Kave control with a long-term record of reliable operation. The new version eliminating the reliability problems of the Windows PC platform of the Kave system enhances the reliability to a totally new level. The AMS XL200 series controls are embedded control systems combining the machine I/O logic and user interface (HMI – Human Machine Interface) in one system. In addition, the intelligent learning movement control of the new version yields significant advantages.
The development of Formia’s roof profile lines has been directed mainly by customer needs. The development of product generations has proceeded through the cost effectiveness of the line and manufactured products to responsiveness to increased capacity requirements. The reliability has also been improved all the time. In the world of increasing steel, labor and energy costs, it is of utmost importance to enable continuous value added to customers’ production processes. Instead of features of each machine, the total production cost becomes more important combined with ensuring the total effectiveness of the processes. To increase effectiveness, we provide Formia’s customers with superior tools for monitoring and increasing usability in our profile lines using the AMS Controls and Eclipse production control system. We achieve significant increase in production capacity by registering and analyzing accurate information and using it for eliminating production bottlenecks. At the moment, the next novelty in the control system is being designed enabling the control of the total profile plant information flow ranging from raw material purchases to end product deliveries and sales invoicing. The aim is to replace fragmented information management with a control system based on harmonized information management in one integrated system only. The aim is to increase production capacity with as much as 50 percent and decrease production costs significantly. The AMS XL 200 series controls have been used in Formia’s trapezoid profile lines since summer 2006 with excellent results, and starting from now they will be used in all Formia’s profile lines. An enhanced and more reliable version of Kave based on latest XML technology has also been developed and it replaces the old system based on a database. Formia’s Tile lines in brief:
