Instagram Latest Update – Lets You Save Your Live Videos
Instagram first launched its live video streaming feature back in November last year, which allows users to broadcast videos through the app in real time. And today, the social network announced a new feature that will allow users to save their live videos to their phone at the end of each broadcast.
“Starting today, you will have the option to save your live video to your phone at the end of a broadcast. While live videos will continue to disappear from the app when you are done, this update gives you the flexibility to hold onto your video and re-watch it later, especially if something exciting happens during your broadcast that you want to remember or share,” the social network gives a statement on the company’s blog.
It is a move that puts Instagram Live on par with both Twitter’s Periscopw and the parent company Facebook’s Live, both of which have allowed users to save videos, so this new update helps to bring the Instagram’s Live Videos more in line with them. But while these two social media platforms have long allowed users to save their footage when they are done, this will first time when Instagram introduces such type of feature.
To access this feature, you will just have to tap the new Save option that will appear in the upper right corner of the app after you are done broadcasting live to your followers. Then just tap “done” and your video will be saved to your camera roll. Keep in mind though that you will only be able to save the video itself, not the comments, likes, and numbers of viewers.
“We are excited by how our community is using live video to connect with their friends and followers at the moment,” Instagram added. “This is just the first of many improvements we will be making to live stories this year.”
The new feature has been made available today as part of Instagram version 10.12, and can downloaded for both IOS and Android devices.
