Formia to supply Biofuel Handling System worth around one million euro also to new power plant in Gällivare

Formia Vesme Oy in Kauhajoki, the affiliate of Formia Technology Group Oy, will supply a biofuel handling system worth around one million euro to a new biopower plant of Gällivare Värmeverk Ab in northern Sweden.

Gällivare Värmeverk Ab will construct a new combined heat and power plant using renewable energy sources in Gällivare. This plant will generate power with 9 MW and heat with 21 MW output. Milled peat is used as a main fuel, completed with wood chips and sawdust. The complete project is worth over 33 million euro and it is intended that the plant will be operational at the turn of the year 2010/2011.

Formia's delivery contract includes the complete screening and conveyor system from fuel storage house up to the boiler silo. Similar deliveries have earlier been made for example to Kiviristin Lämpö Oy in Lapua, Finland, and also the previous heat and power plant in Gällivare is equipped with Formia's solid fuel handling system. The largest systems have been supplied even to 300 MW size plants.

"In accordance with Formia's strategy, we increasingly focus on environmental and energy solutions. We strongly believe that increasingly more flexible systems for more complex energy sources will be required in the future. This is a pleasant challenge and opportunity for Formia", states Kari Anttila, the Business Unit Director of Formia Vesme.

"Employing impact of the order is mainly seen during the first half of 2010 at Formia Vesme. During this time the project employs in average 10 people", continues Anttila.
