Over 2 million euro Biofuel Handling System order won by Formia and destined for Keuruun Lämpövoima Oy Formia Vesme Oy in Kauhajoki, the affiliate of Formia Technology Group Oy, signed a supply contract worth over two million euros for biofuel receiving and handling system to be delivered to a new biopower plant of Keuruun Lämpövoima Oy in Central Finland. Keuruun Lämpövoima Oy will construct a new combined heat and power plant using local biofuel in Keuruu. This plant will generate power with 4,5 MW and heat with 15 MW output. Mainly renewable energy sources are used and also using of recycled fuels is anticipated. The complete project is worth 28 million euro, for which also governmental energy support is granted. It is intended that the plant will be operational in the end of 2010. Formia's delivery contract includes the complete receiving and handling system of biomass up to the boiler, consisting of conveyor system and receiving and screening house buildings. Solely local energy sources will be burned in the plant, like woodchips, milled peat, sod peat, bark, sawdust, reed canary grass and recycled wood, handling of which Formia has years of experience. Similar deliveries have earlier been made for example to Kiviristin Lämpö Oy in Lapua, Finland. "In accordance with Formia's strategy, we increasingly focus on environmental and energy solutions. With this project we again participate in preventing the climate change", states Kari Anttila, the Business Unit Director of Formia Vesme. "Employing impact of the order is mainly seen in the end of 2009 and during the first half of 2010 at Formia Vesme. During this time the project employs in average 10-20 people", continues Anttila.
