Limited-Edition Of Toyota Camry RZ Gets $2000 Worth Of Sporty Extras
As a follow-up to its refreshed Camry range, Toyota has now unveiled its special edition model, this time it’s the Toyota Camry RZ. Based on the entry-level petrol Altise model, the 2016 Camry RZ starts at $28,490 plus on-road costs. Which represents a $2000 premium over the Altise, but Toyota says the RZ boasts $4000 in added value.
Not to be confused with sporty Camry Atara SX revealed in late May, the Camry RZ gets the same 18-inch alloy wheels, but painted black, low-profile tyres, and adds sports suspension, a twin exhaust system and slightly more power.
Those black-accented features include the mesh grille, exterior mirror casings, halogen headlight inserts, boot-lip spoiler and rear bumper insert. There is also RZ decals to the rear doors and boot lid, and two gloss paint colours – Diamond White and Cherry Red – are available at no extra cost.
Toyota says the dual exhaust bumps power and torque by 2kW and 4Nm, to a respective 135kW and 235Nm, and the car comes standard with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Fuel consumption is rated at 7.9L/100km — slightly higher than the 7.8 of the Altise.
Additional features in the cabin include dual-zone climate control, ‘premium’ 3-spoke steering wheel, 4.2-inch colour multi-information display in the instrument cluster, and RZ-branded front floor mats.
Some of the other extras include RZ logos on the sides and rear of the car, plus front and rear parking sensors. Standard on all Camry models are seven airbags, reversing camera, stability and traction control.
Toyota says that it will limit production of the new RZ special to 1100 units over the coming three months, priced from $28,490 plus on roads, with premium paint an extra $450.
